Thread starter clementolinux Start date Nov 14, Most people using Wi-Fi 5 in a home environment are not having major issues.

Most issues in homes are related to interference with other nearby routers. There are many other aspects of Wi-Fi 6 which do improve its capabilities, but mostly these are all for areas of a high number of devices.

Conclusion The main aspect is that the Until this occurs, changes may be made you never know. Any Be aware of the fact that your devices need to compatible. There are very many components to make everything work well. If all your systems are still using Joined Aug 3, Messages Reaction score 15 Credits 2, I am sorry, but I would have no idea.

If you do not need to connect a lot of multiple devices at once like in a public place , then stick with WiFi 5. The technology works just fine. If you need good WiFi speed then look for a high end router and high end dongles large download numbers. I found an AC ? For devices which need absolute high speeds you can direct connect it. My two sons each have an xbox that I hardwired to the router to get twice the speed as a WiFi connection.

I'm abit confused because the manufacturer told in the product's datasheet that the wireless card in my computer is a dual band card but after follow your instruction, i find out that it is not.

But I physically can see that it has 2 antennas. Are they compatible regardless of manufacturers? Some manufacturers do release a product before the standard is set. Of course, they want to be the first or one of the first to release the new technology. At this point, who knows? You would definitely think so, but in the past, we have seen this issue before.

Not everything is always compatible across manufacturers. The antenna issue could be a driver issue. Maybe it's not reporting back to the system properly, or it isn't initializing both antennae. If the router is not Wifi 6, then it will not initialize both antennae. Granny Sue Well-Known Member.

I'm running Mint The internet connection using a wifi dongle I pulled out of my old Raspberry Pi is incredibly slow, proportionate to the number of tabs opened. I saw a wifi 5 adapter on Amazon and my little geek-wannabe brain said, "AHA! The solution is thus!

Can't find or install the driver though I have tried using the included CD , can't do much of anything. Is there any hope for this annoying device, or do I need to return it and get my money back? PS You don"t look old enough to have 3 children old enough to live on their own.

I would guess you may want to return it. These settings will depend on the type and configuration of the wireless network to which a connection is being established. Contact the administrator of the network or the documentation for the base station for guidance on the correct settings to use.

Once the information has been entered, click on the connect button, enter a keyring password if prompted to do so and wait while the NetworkManager establishes the connection indicated by the appearance of the signal strength meter icon in the desktop panel. As an extra measure of security, some administrators configure their networks not to broadcast the SSID, essentially making the network invisible to anyone scanning for networks.

In such scenarios, the only way to connect to the network is by specifying the SSID, thereby making it impossible for anyone without knowledge of the SSID to even attempt to establish a connection. To connect to a hidden network from a Fedora system, begin by finding out the SSID and authentication key for the network from the network administrator. With this information available, left click on the NetworkManager icon in the top desktop panel and select Connect to Hidden Wireless Network from the resulting menu.

This will display the Connect to a Hidden Wireless Network dialog. To disable wireless networking, right click on the NetworkManager icon in the top desktop panel and de-select the Enable Wireless check box.

If problems are encountered connecting to a Wi-Fi network, the following steps may help to isolate the cause of the problem:. Jump to: navigation , search.

Do you mean the device doesn't connect to networks? Does it connect and drops the connection? Is it not detecting wireless networks? Or is the wireless card not even detected on the system?
